It would seem to me your problem lies more in fuel delivery if it only fires when you use starting fluid. Personally, I don"t use the stuff on gas engines. I"ve been told that when it ignites it can sometimes do so violently, stretching head bolts, or breaking other parts. Not sure if that"s true but why tempt fate?

As far as Robin engines go, last I recall, they are manufactured by Subaru.

I have a cart with the same engine. Useful beast, especially when equipped with a 2" receiver hitch.

Always be sure that there is plenty of oil in the reservoir.

Change the spark plug.

Check the battery connections.

Check the in-line fuse between the engine and the gear selection stuff.

Try a new battery. Mine seems to like a new one about every year. $20. at Walmart or replaced on warranty -- no big deal.

Golf carts don't like puddles. The starter/generator on your model is quite high in the engine compartment, so it should be less prone to soaking than Yamaha 2 cycles are, but the dampness still gets to them.

Quite often when my EZ-Go won't kick at all, the headlights still burn brightly and the battery reads 12.45 volts or so. Clean and tighten the battery contacts again. If you are reading under 12 volts, charge the battery or replace it.

If the wires are old and rotten, the only thing to do is to keep piecing jumper wires around the bad parts until it runs, then tape it all up. This worked with a Yamaha for six years.

Fer Pete's sake! What brand is it and what model?

Each one has its own gliches, but they are easily fixed, usually. Leave that starter fluid alone until you get some advice.

If it's like ours, change the plug. It does not matter how it looks, change the plug. It is almost always the problem. At least it's a cheap first attempt.
