I am going through my Allis 7000 this winter some slowly but surely and am getting a tally on parts that are worn out. One thing I need to fix is the seat suspension. I am going to need the 4 rollers that allow the seat to travel up and down in its track. Is there anywhere to buy these besides the dealer? Does say ace hardware, TSC or lows carry these white plastic rollers? If anyone has found anywhere that carries these or has any leads that would be great. The local AGCO dealer is about 45 mins away, but there is a jd and a nh/universal aftermarket dealer about 15 mins away that I will be going by tom. Would any of these tractor use the same rollers that AC used in the late 7000s? Thanks in advance.

I had a similar problem with the seat on my 1600 Oliver, I work at a machins shop so I got a chunk of plastic and made some new rollers myself. The old ones were black, really hard, squooshed flat and didn't turn at all. What I used was a white nylon I think, so far so good. Doesn't take much, maybe a friend w/ access and a case of beer....

I think when you get to looking around, you'll find that your dealer can supply an entire brand new seat with a nice suspension, probably 6 way adjustment and so on for a good deal less money than they could supply parts to repair an old OEM seat. Tractor seats are pretty much a universal mount, and I don't think you would regret having the new seat. There's nothing worse than tumbling around on some darn old thing that won't stay put, and has cushions like a rose bush.... HTH

The last owner just replaced the seat itself, not the suspension. It is a nice med. back cloth seat with armrests. The springs on the suspension and all of the adjustments, braces, frame, etc. are all in good shape. It is just these 4 rollers that have worn flat on one side, so the seat tips forward where they have worn and doesn't slide very easily. The shock also looks to be in good shape. Maybe I can find some plastic wheels off of rollers for small carts that are the same size and just drill out the center hole a little bigger? What would really be nice is to find a ball bearing or needle bearing that would fit in there :). Never have to touch the thing again with that there. I know what you mean though, a lot of newer seats are less expensive than the whole thing, but since the rest of the seat is good except for these little bushings, I'd hate to throw it all away.

I know the last track rails I priced for a Bostrom were in the 700 range, and I don't mean cents. The whole seat with the rails, suspension, the whole shot was over 4 grand. I said thankyou very much, how much is the new Grammer knock-off? Even that was 6-1/4, but a nice seat. So I don't bother repairing them. Who knows, you might get some little rollers at the hardware store, or get some made. I have had some parts made out of nylon like stuff before. You could probably get little ball bearings at a bearing supply too, and fit them into the nylon if you wanted. I guess I'm just at the point where playing with that stuff isn't the headache I'm looking for. I'd just buy the seat, and sell the old one if a ... sucker.... came along. Good luck.

700 for a seat??? Just reading that about knocks my socks off. On the farm tractors, we wait until all that is left is a metal pan and then replace it with a 75 dollar seat from tisco lol. Then again, they are not cabbed and not my pride and joy :). I am not concerned with the stock look, just getting it to work for the best bang for my buck. I will have to take it apart some time and see what I can match up. The more I think about using bearings instead of just nylon rollers, the more I really like the idea if I can get some that will fit :l. Thanks for all of the informations. Next thing after a new radio I need in the cab... Air suspension seat:D.

No, the 700 was only for the tracks. The Fore and Aft adjustment. The entire assembly, with new suspension stack, tracks, and the actual seat itself, which had 6 or 7 adjustments, including an inflatable backrest was $4100. This was a Bostrom Viking, as fitted from the factory in my 7710, and the pricing was through NewHolland in Canadian funds. The one that I bought was a mechanical suspension, full rotation seat with several adjustments, for $625. There is nothing cheap about the medium to higher end seats. Even a basic suspension seat with fore and aft adjustment would now be $150. +. I think the air ride seats are closer $800 or so. I priced one of them too, and didn't need one that badly.

I took apart the suspension tonight, and when I got it apart, 3 or the 4 rollers had worn through all of the bearing and had flat spots on the nylon wheels. The 4th was still functioning and still has a good wheel, just the bearing is sloppy. I think I am going to go to the tractor store tom. and match the wheel and bearings up. I may try to get a bearing with a 1 1/2 inch outer diameter and a 1/2 inch inner diameter if there is such a thing, that would take care of the bearing and the nylon wheel. Then I could just wrap this in electrical tape to keep the noise down and then my seat would sit level and it would be all good. The shock and all of the bushings are still in great shape, just these bearings went out (???). Thanks for the help. Hopefully I can get her done by tom.
