Way to go Nebraska Cowman , nice lookin truck, the best move I ever made was my F-700 and I still average the same gas mileage as my ton truck.

Depends on the DT you got in it, Mine goes like hell with 10 ton of hay on board. Gas job wont be too bad, your gonna pay for it though

I think you done good. Looks like you have learned the same thing that I have, a pick-up truck and trailer will get the job done but if you really want to "get-er-done", you need a real truck. Have you considered adding a roll-back bed with a winch? Might not even need the trailer.

A gas are you serious? I have one of those trucks on a 9 ton feed body. It has a dt466, and the thing bearly has enough power to climb hills in our area. Take the scrap money for it and find a newer diesel. also, you will pry have to sell a few of those red tractors for fuel.

Howard;
I don't know what your favorite trucking song is...But, I can see that rig going down the road with strains of Hank Snow's "I've Been Everywhere" drifting behind it!
Good Luck ☺☺☺

 maybe a utility body in reply to Rauville, 01-11-2006 05:21:52
If you have a trailer readily available I would personally throw a service body on it. Around here a lot are used by the electric company so they are nice fiberglass bodies that wont rust. Can be found around here cheap enough from utlility companies as all they run are those international trucks. Then you can put all your tools on that and have a welder and tools available if you do any tractor pulling or just have a good service trukc around the farm. The reason I say if you have a trailer available you miight want the pickup bed for hauling and moving items but if you got a trailer just use that. Might be a slight pain dragging that around but not too bad. Then you can buy all sorts of toys gen/welder, air compressor. CHECK THE PARKING BRAKE. I cant tell from your pic what model or year the truck is but some of those old internationals (and alot of old gm topkicks) had r n d 3 2 1 gear shifter and the parking brake on the floor on a handle. The parking brake was then just a little pad on the driveshaft. Have seen many of those trucks run by inexperienced drivers that the parking break got left on. Also those parking brakes are not the best and have seen 2 instances of guys loading tractors and 1 a guy loading a backhoe behind the ttruck and got pretty jerky w/them and the trucks went by by. Just somethign to watch for. If the truck has air brakes disregard. But alot had the parking brake on the drive shaft.

Let me know when. I'll light the grill and try to find sumpthin on the road still edible. If we work it out we can advertise and have a pre Red Power BBQ. I do it all the time in the summer for different air events. That would be a lot of fun! Bill

Oh yeah, that would be cool! I gotta meet a man at the quad cities the night of the 13th (at least that's the plan) so should have a couples hours to kill at your place. Even guys from around the area might drive in for a bbq even if they couldn't go all the way to Ohio.

I envy you.

Those are really nice outfits and that at ol' sister will make short work of towing your gooseneck too.

I have the feeling you will be attending a few tractor shows this season and using this as your primary ride? :>)
