I have a 1973 Kawasaki 2 stroke (F-9) that runs away when you start it. The only way you can get it to slow down is to put your hand over the carb.. The carburator slide is going all the way down to the stop.Need some help on this one.

I HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE.IN MY CASE THE SLIDE WAS PUT IN 90 DEGREES OFF CAUSING THE IDLE SCREW TO HOLD THE SLIDE UP. ALSO CHECK THE FUEL JET,THE LONG POINTED STEM AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SLIDE IT SHOULD BE POINTED.IT COULD BE BROKE OR SEVERLY WORN IF THAT IS THE CASE JUST REPLACE.YOU CAN GET A CARB REBUILD KIT FOR AROUND 25.00 DOLLARS.

Check those crank seals, or other airleaks, they will cause it to rev up and run away.

I had a dog that ran away one time and I just shot it. Cheap, not much of a dog, and lasted a long time. Never ran away again. Harley
