Farmall 200 idles fine, but once you advance the throttle, lots of black smoke out exhaust and no power. Carb rebuilt and float adjusted numerous times with no difference. Could the governor be bad or is it possible that the timing is off? This happened overnight. Ran fine last time we used it. About a week later the problem started. Have taken the air cleaner off as well with no blockage sighted.

Black smoke says you have a carb problem and its running way to rich. Also you could have installed the gov shaft wrong and cause problems. Those gov shafts can be tricky to get back in the right slot when you put the carb back on. I'd guess you have the main jet set to far open and you probably need to turn it in some. Main jet should be set around 1-1/2 turn out from bottomed out.

Did it run OK before the carb was rebuilt? Or were the symptoms the same?

The tractor ran fine until the black smoke appeared. We assumed it was a carb problem and rebuilt the carb. Symptoms are unchanged.

Try the carb again. Pay close attention to the float, look it over good, shake it and listen for a sloshing sound, you may need a new float. Also, those new viton tipped needle valves leave a little to be desired, make sure it is doing its job.

That sounds like our shop motto: IF IT AIN'T BROKE, WE'LL FIX IT UNTIL IT IS!
