I have a 16 foot flatdeck trailer and now I am going to be hauling a narrow front rowcropper for the first time so I'll build another loading ramp. My question is this, should the center ramp be the same length as the outer pair, or should it be longer? Don't know why I'm wondering about this but maybe someone out there can give some advice on it. Thanks .... WUH

Hi WUH,

If I was going to use the ramp to complete the flatbed deck when folded up, then make them the same.

If not almost any length will work, including very short.

Mine is actually about 6" shorter and it works just fine. I didnt have a choice in lenght though, if I did it would of been the same.

We load a lot of trikes also but still only use the 2 ramps we have. What we do it put one of both of the ramps in the center, drive up on the trailor with the front wheels and stop and move the ramps out to the side where we need them. But not sure if that would be an option for you or nor

I saw a fellow load a narrow front with two ramps set to the rear tread. He approached the ramps at at almost right angles.Ran the front up the side ramp. When he made the 90 degree turn the rear wheels hit the ramps perfectly. Un loaded it the oppisite way. I offered the use of my removeabls center ramp but he seemed insulted. The thing I didn't like is that I prefer to back the trctor on with the engine weight "downhill".

Just like jc says, we only use two ramps.

I have always liked mine same length. As John mentioned, it also is usefull loading small vehicles.

For your use it doesn"t matter. But on my trailer I sometimes use the center ramp and an outside ramp to load smaller tractors and ATV"s. In that case they should be the same length. Always look ahead, don"t look back, something might be gaining on you.
