Jo took her Dad's old pickup in for a radiator flush and they replaced the 13lb cap with a 7lb cap. The guy at the shop said they do this on older vehicles to help save on hoses etc. I've heard that the correct pressure is important on some vehicles. Should I insist that they give me the correct one ?

Thanks,
Jo's slave

I think thats a line of crap. If the hoses are gonna blow under 13lbs, they'll blow sooner or later at 7lbs. Doesn't make any sense to me, I drive an 88 f150 w/ the 4.9. I replaced my cap last winter and the auto parts store gave me a 13 lb. cap. I was replacing the radiator at the time, as well as thermostat, and the hoses.

Make them give you a new cap, or give your old one back. Chances are, there's nothing wrong w/ the old one in the first place.
