Hello! I had a conversation with a gentle men the other evening who is looking for some lenses for the headlights on his ford tractor. This tractor was man. during the war and it also has a factory cab on it. Sounds like a real gem. He needs the lenses that measure 6 1/2 inches and they are not sealed beams like most of the tractors. They say the word "tractor Lite" on them and have a clear sp[ot in the middle. He has had guys tell him they have them and then he gets them and they are only 5 1/2 inches and they are to small. Please advise what or where I can send him for info or what he needs. Thanks Maestro

Ford only made one tractor (series) at a time, back then. During the war would have been the 9N (1941) and the 2N (1942-1945... now, for all the other 'N nuts' out there, I know that the 9's and 2's were made outside of that time frame, but this meets the WWII criteria :-)). Both tractors were 6V positive ground, from the factory (with the exception of some of the early 2Ns, which were magneto driven). All this being said... When I replaced my headlights (on my 1950 8N), I went to Tractor Supply and picked up a set of 12V bulbs, which were sitting on the shelf, right next to the 6V bulbs.

Good luck...
(P.S. try the 9N, 2n & 8N Board, you'll get more "specialized" help, for these tractors, there)

Steve

The early fords never came from the factory with lights. They were always a dealer installed option. Tracto lite and Taurus were to of the brands used but there may have been since it was a dealer thing.
