Hi Y"all,

I have a Bobcat with a hydrostatic drive. When I push the sticks to go forward (or backward)the engine loads down and I see the hoses going to the hydrostatic drive motors move slightly, indicating that pressure is getting to the motors. The unit creeps but has absolutely no power. Anyone have any experience with this kind of drive? I"m more than frustrated.

I have the same problem right now. I found the 2 bolts that hold the Hydrostatic drive to the motor where missing. This keeps the drive pump from run, It will creep maybe an inch. and no arm or bucket control. What model do you have. Mine's a 520. And even though that they made this model for olny a year. When I went to the local Bobcat dealer there was someone in right before me with the same problem and it was also a 520.

Come to find out that wasn't the only problem I have. The Drive coupler that goes between the Motor and Hydrostatic drive is stripped out. Teeth completely gone on one side. I'm in the proccess of change it out. Will Post back later.

My machine is a 742. I replaced the hydrostatic pump today (took all day) and the unit is as dead as it was when I started. I found that I have no charge pressure into the pump. I then took apart and checked the metering block and it all looks good inside. The hydraulics work fine but when they pump up a cylinder, it sounds like something is bypassing or possibly has air in it. I noticed that there is also air in the hydro oil when I bleed it. I really don"t know if this is normal. Anyway, I"m more lost now than when I started. I can"t believe that something so simple can give me so much trouble. ): Anyone have any ideas on how I can get the charge pressure to come up? (I almost think that the hydro pump is starving and causing my problem.) I was under the imoression that the charge pressure is created by the hydraulic pump feeding distribution block but I could be wrong. Help. (please)

I have a 753. Had somewhat of a similar problem. Turned out to be fuel related. Collapsed fuel line and something else fuel related but darned if I can remember right now. Thing would idle just fine. I'm sure you'll get more feed back on this. Craig
