I seem to remember a Tractor salvage by Elkhart IN. South I believe. I think the name was Hines or Hinze or something like that. Anyone know of it? have an address?

You wouldn't be talking Martins in Wakarusa? Not far south of Elkhart or the US 20 Bypass. Old tractor mounted about 50 feet in the air on a pole? 574/862-4255, lot of old stuff. No H's in the phone book. If call them, don't say "salvage" though, likely to make them mad and the price will go up.

Is also a place in Edwardsburg, MI just a few miles north west of Elkhart over the state line called Smith's 269/663-2577. Same thing, don't say "salvage", they're already more expensive than Martins, but good.

Both are open until noon, not sure if MI is on the same time as us or not. Lost track of who's on what time now.

Good luck. Time to head out for me.

Mark

Yeah, it's Hein. South of Mishawaka, IN. I live in the area and have bought from him before, years ago, and I've never gone back. Let's just say it wasn't the most satisfying transaction I've ever made. Write me back if you want more details/directions. Brian

Never been there or heard of it before. Southbend and Mishawaka have turned into one giant metropolis, so I don't head over that way any more, except to pass it on the toll road every weekend.

The gals up at Smiths can get you most anything, or rebuild anything. Was told this past week are cooling it on the business though, father's pretty ill, it's his business, they're slowing it down. Gonna stay in business for rebuilding and stuff, but as I understand it aren't gonna go fetch, rebuild, and resell them old tractors like used to. Maybe I got it backwards, but don't think so.

Haven't seen Martins in a year or so, but has grown huge.

I was in Elkhart for most of my life, now over in Bristol on the state line.
