I recently came across a great deal on some jet fuel (Jet A-1) and was wondering if it"ll burn in a diesel engine without harming it(the engine that is!). Any thoughts?

We use straight Jet A in our fuel truck(2000 International). I take the sump Jet fuel home all the time and burn some in the heating oil tank. For the Diesels, I have some old (unused) motor oil that is not (in my opinion) suitable to lubricate an engine, but OK to burn. I think I mix mine a little rich on the oil but have had no ill effects after about 8 years of doing so. I usually dump about half quart (unmeasured, give or take a bit) to a 5 gallon container. If you mix it with 50/50 Jet/diesel, which is what I do when my Jet fuel harvest at work gets slim (sopmetimes I have competition), that is ok too.

I don't think you have to add any. But I would think 2-4 oz would be more than enough. or if you are concerned mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with diesel.

Yep. I came across one of those deals on some "contaminated" Jet A myself. I got 110 gallons for hauling it away. I used it in my Bobcat, trencher, truck and 720 JD. Never noticed any ill affects or special benefits(other than it was free).

I used to be a crew chief / flight mechanic on a USAF HH-1H Huey Helicopter. We usually used JP4 fuel, but would routinely interchange JP5 & Jet A. We never had the occasion to try it, but according to the helicopter tech data we could also burn Kerosene or Diesel fuel. Based on that I would think if diesel is good enough for a helicopter, I would think Jet A is good enough for anything designed to run on deisel. Of course a little bit of added lube for the injectors would be a good idea.

Many airports use only Jet! in their diesel equipmnet. Those little tugs running around are geberally Diesel. I usee Jet A in my 966 and many aircraft mechanics burn Jet A in their Diesel vehicles (buy diesel for just that reason.) It is Dryer. I usually add a ittle 2cle oil. Many dont.

Just remember to keep your WD-45 under 10,000 ft so you don't pass out from the lack of oxygen.

Several previous posts discussed this same question. A bit of 2-cycle oil added should take care of injector pump lube concerns.

Jet A is a first cousin to kerosine. You'll find that it is "dryer" than diesel. I doubt it would provide proper lubricant for your injectors unless you added something "oily".

It is grade A Kero. Generally has an anti-icer called Prist added.
