depending on what size you are talking about i have heard bad things about the perkins engine but good on the cummins and yanmar. walker shorck the local ih dealer (we usually ship most case work out if we get one in) said they have been having problems with the transmissions in hard pulls. they could not at all figure it out. in the shop on the dyno, w/hydraulic prssure guages everything checked out. get it back out in the real world operators kept complaining that it woudl slop out of gears. couldnt figure it out couldnt figure it out finally after knocking around ideas and talking to the big boys they figured out that in a hard pull that they could pull the motor down enough to cut the hydraulic flow enough that it would come out of gear. ended up having to put bigger pumps on it and reclaibrate the computer. that is what i was told about them when i was over there..... all ive heard

I bought a MTX 120 about two weeks ago. I haven't worked it a whole lot yet, but so far it seems good. It has a cummins egine in it, some of the smaller ones have a perkins. About $20,000 less than a green machine, and honestly I think the cab and some other things are a little better. Has a good road speed 25mph. Good hydraulics. If you want to know more shoot me an e-mail. I dont want to start a brand war on here....Jim

I noticed that a new dealer has approximately 10 of the new McCormicks (A variety of sizes) just outside of Arab in Northeast Alabama.
They look good from the road but I do not know anyone that has purchased one and I also would be curious as to how well they perform.

There are a few dealers local here. The rebadged Case CX models are selling really well they say as they were popular and are now 10-15% cheaper than when Case sold em.

They have some big boys in stock but I don't know much about them. I don't know anyone with one.

My local dealer sells C/IH, McCormick, Long & Farmtrac. He told me that the McCormicks are slightly higher priced, but were outselling the C/IH. Dealer is in east Tenn. Haven't heard of any mechanical problems.
