hi again...
lately I saw this astounishing pic of that chevy with a F5L 912 in it.
You're discussing HP and torque. I'll try to find out the factory-set-torque value for this engine. please give me some time to do it.
as a deutz owner myself (2 and 4 zyl. 812 models) let me tell you, that they HAVE quite a nice torque on low enginespeed already.
this is not only with the 5-cyl.
I already "digged" my 4-cyl. way in deep to the axles with the engine in idle, having the rear axle locked (don't know the right word in english) and without the engine going down from idle speed.... was trying to get a 90cm dimaeter tree-stump out ... didn't work but wasn't the failure of the machine though...

greetings from germany

heiko

Don't know if this is the same one but Pickering seed farms of Straghn Indiana (located in East-central Indiana, went out of business in the late 80's I think) had one just like this. They also had purebred Hampshire hog business and they used their truck to pull a 16 foot stock trailer and delivery boars all over the midwest.

They had a mechanic in Dublin Indiana custom build the brackets and install the Duetz engine. They used the truck with great sucess and put at least 200,000 miles on it.

Don't know what happend to the truck when they went out of business.

Hi

I know a guy who has a Chevy C70 truck with
a Deutz diesel in it. Dont know the year model
but he told me it came from factory that way. This is the only one I have seen in a road
vehicle. The truck has a rollback bed (20feetlong)
and a hydralic winch. Very handy rig. I think
it is a 6 cylinder. Looks wierd in front because
there is no radiator just the cooling fan.
