I did my first two discing job's for the new year. Was good to get out again. My old AC Model M just didn't miss a beat all afternoon. I tell the people it is a little early to be discing, but they insist I do it now. Like Hank Thompson's song goes, If you got the money honey, I got the time. Stan

Pardon me for asking, but what is an AC Model M? The others seemed to know but the only Ms I remember were Farmall (IHC), JD, and Rumely Oil Pull. There were probably others and if you were to find one it would prabably be in the hands of someone on this board.

Thanks for jogging my memory. I wasn't even thinking about track layers. I believe that one was in the Monarch line that AC purchased.

In 1955 I was 13. That might make us old farts , and not quite geasers. My dad farmed with the Model M's, and did discing for other people. Dad is gone now, but still have the M's. I don't farm, but carried on Dad's discing business. Stan

Ok, old timer, I was only 7 in "55, so I was only riding on the old Ollie 90 with dad, but I was about ready to start driving under supervision, but not with implements behind. By the time I was 13, I was already driving Cat D8 with earth scraper - under supervision, and not dumping on the tip! I also did not get anywhere near the side of the cut either!
I now wonder where my hearing went!!
Regards, RAB

Born in 1941. My hearing went as a kid, pulling a field culivater with a Farmall F20 with a straight pipe. Can`t spell either.

Child Labor!! in reply to Everett, 01-23-2005 05:28:50
Having a kid cultivate with an F20 was mean :) Did it have manual lift levers? I never forgave Dad for taking me off the 1940 SC Case with power lift you triggered with your right heel and putting me on a 1939 JD A with manual lift. Had to stop the A at the endof the row and get off the seat, grab the lift lever with both hands and yank it out of the ground. I was about 14 years young. Ah the memories. Leonard

How about a SC Case (46?) with a manual lift sickle mower - I must have weighed all of 115 lbs (skinny runt then)
