If you plan to solder a pinhole make sure to get all the gas out or the float will still be heavy. Not too much solder or it will be heavy.Sometimes these repairs become double work and a new float is in order.

What the other post are talking about as a sunken float, is one with a hole in it that you cannot see. Gas will get inside of it and make the float heavier. Shake it vigeriously when you have it apart to see if this has happened along with seat replacement and properly adjusting float height and drop with gasket in place...deadeye

Frank,

Sounds like ya got a stuck or sunk float or needle valve is shot. If the float is stuck, sometimes tapping on the carburetor will free it up, but that's not really a fix. Carb kit is probably in order.

Good luck,

Sounds like you need to rebuild the carb since either the flot is stuck and or the needle/seat is bad

An old auto shop teacher used to make us practice spelling "carburetor" before we were allowed to work on one. I learned how spell it but not fix it.
