Help! I live in upstate NY and we are getting hammered with snow...the choke in my Wheelhorse tractor w/snowplow attachment is frozen. Normally, I get out there with a heatgun and thaw it out, but today that is just not working.
Any suggestions? Thanks very much.

After you get it lose, give it a healthy dose of JB-80.

Pout some alcohol on it, it will dry out the water/ice and will not hurt the engine if you get a little in to the carb.

Many thanks to those of you who responded with suggestions. Leland, the cable has a plastic cover. I decided that the heat gun wasn"t doing the job so I brought out the hairdryer. That worked better. I concentrated on the lowest part of the cable and finally got it to move.
Thanks again for your suggestions.
P.

Just spray both ends good with a teflon based lube this will help keep it from sticking , then hit it every time after pushing snow . I assume that after watching TV you have quite a bit of snow to move.

Hi Leland,
Yes, here in the Hudson Valley, NY, we had about 14 inches of snow over Saturday/Sunday and then another 4 inches yesterday. On Monday, I bought a new (stronger) heat gun at Home Depot and when I went out to plow this morning, it only took a few minutes. I will look for the de-icer that you suggested and will follow your direction. Thanks again.P.

there must be water in the fuel or the snow must be getting in or around the choke .try cutting a plastic soda bottle and placing it over the choke area.
