HY-Gard or eqivulant in reply to FM, 01-09-2005 15:39:07
FM,use Hy-Gard or an oil that meets specs. The brakes on JD 2440 run in oil so it is important to use correct oil.HY-Gard has additives for brakes. It been a long time but I think it holds close to 10gals.You put it in behind seat and check fullness by a dipstick on rh.side behind right heel sitting in seat.Oil in diff.,Trans.and hyds.are all together.Tx Jim

Getting a manual is as easy as stopping by your JD dealers or asking them what type you need while you are there. I don't understand...

May as well wait until Monday to purchase the oil and filter along with the operator's manual. I wouldn't be starting the job Sunday night without being certain of having enough oil on hand. Those were a very mild jab you got for questions as such. Don't complain.

I saw your post last night. I'm at our house in town, and my manuals are at the farm. I'll be there tomorrow afternoon. I'll grab the manuals, and get back with you. John
