I have an IH 460 diesel that I recently purchased. It has been sitting for some time. The pump was rebuilt and installed about three years ago and was made to run. It has sat since then. I have fresh fuel to the pump but can't get any fuel to the injectors. What do I need to do? Thanks, Ricky

the last time the motor was shut off,the kill lever was probably not returned to the run position.then after sitting with fuel in it for three years, the fuel probably varnished up and the kill pin is stuck.you should be able to take the 3 screws out of the cover and check the kill pin for movement.I had a jd like this just last week.

I'm going through this now on an IH 460 with a Roosa Master pump. Could not figure it out. Finally found that the pump drive shaft was sheared. Nothing specific happened, it ran when I brought it into the shop and when I tried to start it again it was broken.

You need to bleed the system onwards from the lift pump/filters to make sure there is no residual air in the system. The distributor pump bleed points and procedure will be dependent on the type fitted.

Thats the one weak spot in a diesel system, if they sit for very long the pumps seals dry out and then the pump will not work. You will probably need to have it gone through again.
