Hello, im hoping i can get some info from some of you out there. ive been hearing lately about people mixing different fuels for tractor pulling? for instance 50% gas, 40% Kerosine, 10% diesel. or 50/50 gas/airplane fuel. etc. anyone got any pointers, i dont want to try these and end up screwing up my tractor. which is a 1945 J.D. GM at stock rpms im getting about 45-46 hp. thanks everyone

20% methanol and 80% nitomethane. Fuel delievery will have to be increased roughly 8 times at that mix if memory serves. Seriously. Install a gasoline manifold, 8 to 1 pistons, three angle valve job, blend the valve bowl edges smooth, match the ports, a cam from Roberts, straight stack, dry airfilter conversion and a Pertronics ignition system. 65-75 HP. Should be able to run in the 6500 and 8000lb classes with that very fast 1st gear.

If your tractor is pretty mutch stock I wouldn't waist the money. Believe it or not if you don't have high enough compression you will loose horse power when you use the higher octain fuel and you won't go any farther down the track.

If you have a gas tractor with normal compression ratio, I can't see how anything but straight pump gas can do you any good. Kerosene and diesel have higher cetane numbers than gas which mean they detonate sooner. Airplane fuel is generally 110 octane because aircraft engines run a bit hotter and have higher compression ratio's. If you have a stock gas engine with normal advance, the compression ratio is probably around 6 - 7 so pump gas is fine. If you want to advance the spark some and get some knock move up to premium pump gas.
