I have a 1956 or 7 Massey Ferguson F-40. I am trying to grease the rear wheel bearings but cannot find a grease port. There is a counter-sunk depression on the outside wheel center but there does not appear to be an opening. Does the wheel need to be removed? Ideas?
Thanks
Tim

That's what I'm looking at. I'm going to let um live or die as there is a lot involved in pulling the axle and the brakes work great.

Just got a set of MF35 manuals. Yes they said grease rear bearings.....stupidest thing I ever heard of.

Once annually. remove all the stuff in the way and then undo the 12 bolts around the hub and pull the shaft out far enough to grease the bearing by hand.

Be careful with the shaft so as to not damage your seals.

Over the years I wonder just how many get greased..... ...do I hear none unless other work is being done?

Does the operator manual have a lubrication section. If so, follow it.
How often should these bearings be greased? If the manual says daily or even weekly, they would never expect a farmer to remove wheels to do routine lubrication.

FO-4 manual says clearly lube the rear axel bearings yearly.
