I plan on buliding another shed to put tractors in this summer and want to pour a cement slab. I'm not sure how much I will need. Its going to be a 16X20 with a 6" floor. I'm I right that it will take just under 2yds??? Thanks for the help.

old, 16' x 20' x (1/2') = 160 cu ft. There are 27 cu ft in a cu yard. So the arithmetic comes out to 5.93 cu yards of concrete. Rounding it off, I'd say you needed 6 yards.

Any way I figure it, I see right at 6 Yards. Width X lenght X depth. 16' X 20' = 320 sq.ft. X 6" = 160 cu. ft. Divide by 27 (Cu ft in a cu. yd.) = 5 yards and 25 cu. ft. SO 6 yards. John

A yard will cover 81sq ft 4in deep so your is 16x20=320 sq ft=4 yd

Do you plan to have a footing? If there is no footing, animals will get under there and someday the floor will be cracking and sinking over the areas the animals have dug out. A six inch wide by one foot deep footing will take another 1 1/3 yards or a six inch wide by two foot deep footing (preferred) will take 2 2/3 yards, if my math is right.

Usually a monolithic slab includes a thickened edge. 10"-12" thick on the edge, in about 10"-12" and sloped up to the regular thickness of the slab.

16 times 20 equals 320, times 1/2 ft. equals 160. Divided by 27 cu. ft. to yard equals 5.92 yards. Say 6. Usual 6 inch thick is a 2x6 form which is about 5 1/2 inch. Order enough and figure some little project that you can use the left over for. Front step or part of a driveway? Commercial pourers are usually very good at ordering the exact amount.

You'll need close to 6 cu yards, if you're really making the floor 6" thick.

You have 320 square feet, and if the floor is 6" thick, it will take 1/2 cubic foot of cement for each square foot of floor. (160 cubic feet) to find cubic yards, divide cubic feet by 27.

160/27=5.93 cubic yards.

16 x 20 = 320/6" = 160 cu ft/27 cu ft/yd = 5.925 yd. So it looks like you need 6 yds unless you are also including some footing which would mean you need more concrete.
