Had a crappy last couple of weeks, working my butt off, clutch went out in the Farmall ($$$$$) rotten weather, etc. Today I finally got time to finish plowing the garden and plowing a patch for wildflowers. Hooked up the Case eagle hitch plow I got for $25 and it plowed great even though it's still a bit wet. And for 30 minutes everything was right with the world. I think I'll devote a patch of ground to just plowing and discing, no plants just turning dirt over and over. :^)

I did my first real plowing this weekend. We had three fields and about 4 acres. One was a grass field, one had thick hay and one was bare dirt from a corn field last year. The grass was ok to plow, just a little rough. The hay field nearly killed me. I had to hold on to my Farmall M with both hands while discing or I'd get thrown off. Then we did the corn field and it went soo smooth, took no time at all. I have to say I respect the farmers out there. Not only is farming hard work, but you have to know a lot also. From mechanical, to agricultural, It will take me probably the rest of my life to catch up in knowledge to the farmers.

I feel your pain.....building a new home got basement dug bought used tractor with loader to move the spoil cant do any thing til its moved, not 5 min off the trailer steering shaft twists into a pretzl. now the wife (love of my life) is on my a$$ because SHEEE wants to be in HER new house by fall, that aint gonna happen. so I hook up the hog to the trusty ol ford 814 and mow 5 or 6 acres in first at half throttle nice and slow and enjoy the sunshine, just somthing about fresh cut grass and fresh turned dirt thats just theraputic and reaches deep into your soul.

Yeah, Mowing can be good too. Sorry for the whine, just had to get it out of my system. got to do a lot of mowing today so that ought to relax me a bit. The good ol' wife said she wanted to buy me a hot tub for my birthday, said no thanks not yet. I'd be working so many extra jobs to pay for it, I would'nt have time to use it. Guess it's the thought that counts.

We have a joke here in Southwest Nebraska in dry years (aren't they all?) that the only crop we raise well is the summer fallow. I just spent from Wednesday morning to Saturday noon running a little 12 ft disk over 120 acres. In just a few weeks I get to do it all over again.

Funny I have the same opinion. Like a waller spot for a jacka$$. Didn't know there was such a thing till I had one. Didn't know where was such a thing till I did it. Something about seeing and smelling fresh dirt turned.

(Bought the jacka$$ to keep coyotes away from calves but sold him when he started killing my trees by stripping the bark off.)

You are not alone with problems. Seams like every day is filled with prolems for me. I had a new 18.4x38 put on my JD yesterday, today after 6 hrs discing it goes flat. To make it more interesting it is the inside tire. I think the tire banger pinched the tube. Just enjoy the good days.
