I am looking for older tractor advertising slogans. I know a couple.
1. Nothing runs like a Deere.
and 2. Why farm at all unless you can Farmall.

I saw a picture of a tractor with a sign on it that read:
If it aint green leave it hitched to the spreader. I don't agree with this statement but I did get a kick out of it. I was just wondering what some of the other slogans were. I'm not trying to start trouble with color wars. I am color blind. I have a gray one and a red one. WHich slogans have you heard and liked?

Todd

Dad told me that one of IH's slogans was "First to Serve the Farmer"...to which he usually added, "fried, baked, or broiled" after checking the parts price book.

If it ain't red, leave it in the shed.

Friends don't let good friends drive green tractors.

An old ad for Oliver(circa 1937) for Oliver 70,
"Ride with Oliver and go places"
Mid 40's, "Power when you want it, power when you need it"

Allis-Chalmers: About 1977-85 was "Better by Design" and for the 7010 through 7080 "The Power Squadron" & for 1940s and 50s "Allis-Chalmers for Better Living, Better Farming, More Profit" and for the WD45 "Engineering in Action". For the 7030 and 7050 "Measurably Better Tractors". And for the 1970s "The Rising Power In Farming, Allis-Chalmers". And for the All-Crop "You're in Clover with an All-Crop Harvester". And last for entire AC line in 1941 "Furrow To The Future".

This is not tractor related but I've used " Must have been the puppy chow" a few times. Comes into use now and again when we're house breaking a dog.

I do not agree with any of those but thought this slogan which is not from Deere. If it is green it is a fine machine, If it is red just keep it in the shed. Also, Chevrolet LIKE A ROCK.If I remember right a rock stays in one place for a LONG time.

John Deere Dealers used to have one: We stand behind every piece of equipment that we sell except the manure spreader. Those aren't the exact words but close.

On that Allis spreader, they COULD stand behind it because it was a front unloader. Mguy.

Those are the exact words I remember at an old John Deere dealership in the early 50's in southern MN.

Was there ever an advertising slogan for the Fordson Model F? I've seen old county fair pamphlets with something about "the Universal tractor" or farm power or some such thing... Does anybody know of the "official" slogan for these ancient gray workhorses?

Thanks,
Ted S.
