When I bought a tractor I was told it was a 350U, when I got it home, I looked farther I noticed a c-169 on the motor block, I looked in the shop manual and realized that it was'nt a 350 but a 300. Could someone tell if there is some thing or some way that I could tell the two apart (there is no emblem) appreciate any help, Thanks

Brian, the clutch pedal does go under the footrest on 350U, but this pedal setup was started on the 300U with tractor ser. # 31927.The rear work light was changed from the right fender to the left on 8-'56. There was a fuel tank heat shield added on 12-'56. The 300 had a key start switch,350 had key switch with push-button start.Does tractor have fast-hitch with traction control? These were only offered on 350's , but could've been added to 300. Any or all of the above could have been changed, modified, etc. over the years. Production for 300U ended on 9-'56 & production for 350U started on 11-'56. Info gathered from "Original Farmall Hundred Series by Fay & Kraushaar".Hopefully this will help you nail down which one you have. We have 1-350U & 4 1/2 300U's.Great tractors! If I can be of any more help send me an e-mail.

I have had three 300U's and one 350U and have a fair amount factory books on them, and it seems the only diference between the two motors is that the 350U has a 1/6th bigger bore.

Look at your steering wheel. If it has a nut in the middle, it's a 300U, if it has a plastic emblem (or place for one) it's a 350U.

Does the arm on the cluth go underneath the footrest on the 350U and straight down on the 300U if so then I have the 350U but have a c-169 motor in it. I just needed to know so I could buy the right manuals.

From what I have found you have already found the way, I had the same problem I thought I had a 350 or 400 and found out it was a 450 because of the engine number of C-281
