Allied Loader vs. Bush Hog

I have been looking for a loader for my MF255 50hp tractor. I like the MF236 and the Bush Hog 2426/2425 and 2400. However have been unable to find one that is priced within my means. A dealer has an Allied 394 with standard cylindars that seems to be priced right but I am concerned that 5X5 or 6X6 bales of hay baled in a JD baler with a 130 to 140 hp tractor may stress this unit to the higher end. It probably would be OK with a set of the optional cylindars that would be extra. I really like what I have seen of the Bush Hog, I just haven't found one not on a tractor that someone is willing to part with. Allied's website indicates that the 395, 495 and 595 are matches for the MF255 each one just a little stronger/heavier than the previous one. My friend and I normally handle about two hundred rolls of hay a year. IS THE 394 ALLIED LOADER TOO SMALL ON MY MF255 FOR WHAT I WILL BE HANDLING?

Thanks for any insite.

I had Allied 495S loader on Zetor 3344 tractor & loaded logs. Will lift about 2200 #'s. 3344 has 46 hp. You wont even need antifreeze in rear tires with hay bales unless you buy one of those adaptors that lifts 2 bales at a time.

Thanks for your reply to my e-mail post. I bit the bullet and paid more for the Bush Hog. I plan on keeping the tractor and loader so the little extra paid should pay off over the years.

Phil: it sounds like you have reservations about the Allied Loader despite it being within your financial means. If you have doubts about the Allied now, but like the Bush Hog, you will likely kick yourself for not getting what you want down the road. Just make it happen.

I looked at Allied and Bush Hog last year for my tractor and went with the Bush Hog. Nothing against Allied--they are fine pieces. The Bush Hog just felt right even though it was a bit more expensive. It also mounted on the tractor rather handily. I did the mounting myself and saved quite a bit. Maybe this is an option for you to consider.

Thanks for your reply to my post. I bit the bullet and went with the Bush Hog. I plan on keeping this tractor and loader for life and likely the extra investment will pay off over time.

One thing to keep in mind here besides the rated capacity of each loader is the amount of weight your tractor front end will handle and how safely. You may be better off/safer with a rear spear or bale mover on wheels.

Thanks for your reply to my post. I went with the Bush Hog loader as I have had this tractor for 29 years and hope to keep it for another so the extra investment will likely pay off.
