I wrote Brad in Va., but can't find it anywhere so I guess it didn't take. I'm new here and don't yet know my way around forum, so I'll just throw this out to all the experts. Someone wants to sell us a John Deere tractor. He says it's a 1992"2150", serial A549999. Friends say the "2150" wasnt manufactured in 1992, others say maybe its a "2155".We haven't seen tractor yet as it's a ways from us. How can we match the serial # to the corrent Series. Hope I'm using the right terms. Any help will be appreciated. thanks, Judy

Judy, I had a JD 2150 that I bought new in 1986, kept it for 15 years. Mine had the JD front end loader(a 175 I think) on it. They were made in Germany and were of very good quality. I never had any trouble out of it other than getting the starter rebuilt once. They are a 50 horse, 3 cylinder diesel tractor and a real handy size for a utility. It was also very stable on hillsides which was important to me. I sold it for the same price I paid for it new and kept the 609 rotary cutter that came with it, hard to complain about that! That was probably the most satisfying purchase I have ever made. If you have any other questions about this rig let me know.

Don, All you farmers seem to have your "pets". My husband has his Daddy's JD "630". He had it painted a couple of yrs ago and now it looks as good as it runs.He uses it whenever he can. However his main (horse) right now is his JD 5310w/loader which does the dirty work while "Poppin John" loafs in the loafing shed waiting to be called to work.He also has a Ford "800" which he doesn't like ( Hard to handle) and a Farmall "C" ( he wanted a Super "C" but couldn't fine one) which gives hime a little trouble ( alternator and generator), but he still likes it.I 'm writing all this because He does not "computer". THanks for your comments which we both enjoyed reading. Judy(in Virginia)

Judy, You're welcome. My main tractor now (I have 7 but don't tell my wife) is a 5410 4X4 w/ loader w/4 way bucket, 5 sets of remotes, hydro tip and tilt 3 point and it is a nice, good running tractor but sometimes I miss my 2150.

Judy: Tractor Tips is a good website for this kind of info. They say the 2150 was made from 1983-1986 with serial # 433467-562001. 549999 would be a 1985 2150. 2155s were made from 1987-1992 serial# 600000-746510.

Bill(wis), Thank you for answering so quickly. Yours was the most helpful as you were able to identify the serial # also. The man offering the tractor for highest bid is not the owner. He is selling it for his Father who no longer farms, so I imagine he just got things mixed up.My husband's going to a farm auction fri. and if he doesn't find anything we'll be driving down to see this 2155 and find out why it's so hard to indentify.I hope it's on the up and up.THanks, Judy (In Virginia)

Thanks so much for your quick response. My husband is not a computer guy so I have to do the typing. He hasn't decided what he's going to do yet but I imagine he'll try to get some better info from the man that wants to sell it, before he goes to see it. Judy
