So the price of steel is up 66% since December; watch out, the price of scrap will be moving too.

Guys like YOU who are in this hobby only to make the Best Buck, need to get a diff hobbie. Combines are a tin can and worth little, cept maybe drivelines, BUT tractor parts that are not made anymore, need to be kept AS tractor parts, NOT that $20 bill you'll get in your wallet. Besides, a penny a pound here is all I get for scrap, takes alot to make it worth anything. I also dis-like the guy who buys a whole running tractor, maybe nicer than one I'm restoring and parts it, cause worth more as parts than a REAL tractor is. That only reduces the models for the rest of us, destroys the hobbie, makes it more expensive for those that need parts. Course, YOU would benefit THEN, hey?? :^P :^(

I think that's what's known as the "free enterprise system". It's his stuff, he cad do what he wants with it. He's probably tired of guys like you who think everything should be free in this hobby.

this was America where everyone has the freedom (within the law) to do business as they see fit.

Sounds kind of like you are in hobby that you are having a difficult time supporting.

Yep, the keyword there is within the law. What are you going to do with the tires ? Most scrap iron places won't take them and you will most likely have to pay some noticible $$$ to get rid of them.

Don (below) suggested the classifieds but those ads are supposedly monitored before they are posted and I don't believe you can list a "parts" tractor in there. You really should pull parts off the tractors and list them individually on the classifieds, you'll get a lot more money than for scrap. More work of course (including shipping if you want to get into that) but some stuff brings a good dollar.

Tractor and combine salvage yards will likely pay more than scrap metal prices. Check with any salvage yards in your area. Not sure if out of state salvage yards would be interested in extra shipping expense, but they might be on the right thing. Sounds like you might have enough stuff to have an auction as an option, and make sure salvage yards, scrap metal buyers, and tractor restorers/collectors all know about it. You get them all there for the auction and they will iron it all out where they need to go. You would make money on anything that sells over scrap metal prices that way. That much stuff, some of it would surely sell for more than scrap. Even if through classified's instead of an auction.

There was a guy in California's central valley a couple of summers ago, buying up all the tractors he could find. Even half tractors. They were loaded on a flatbed and taken some where in the mid-west for parts. He wouldn't say where.

Try listing your stuff in the classified section you might sell them. Its a shame to scrap usable parts if there are any. Also try a tractor salvage yard they may pay more than iron scrap yard.

it would be a shame to scrap them. i am sure if you list in classifieds, someone would need the parts.
