I am about to cancel my Direct TV and am wondering if I am going to get into a hassel. Yes, I have been long over my original 1 year requirment. Two or three years. Since it is a direct bill to my credit card I am worried if they could be hard to deal with, or drag there feet. Any one "been there, did that". I assume that the equipment is mine now.

Don't pay the bill, it's surprising how quickly they'll disconnect you.

What does Directv have to do with tractors? I have posted several real tractor questions over last years, but never got one reply. I have friends that have the experience. The questions that do get replies seem to be the ones anyone should be able to answer. I got help somewhere else on my latest question.

I cancelled mine once, because my reciever blew up,and at the time, cable was cheaper to get on than rpalcing the reciever.I called them, cancelled it and all they said was "Sorry to lose you as a customer.needless to say I grew extremely tier of cable never being on,the recievers that I had to have were junk, never worked,so I called them and told them to come get thier recivers or they could pivck them up out in the road.I wont go back to cable, and I love my DTV service.

Kenny,

If they give you a hassle, why not call the credit card co. and tell them the card has been stolen or something.

They will then issue you a new credit card and void the old one. That will put an end to them dingin' your old card.

Just an idea,

Allan

Cancelled mine a few years ago-no problems, they wanted to extended my service and give me extra viewing for free(HBO for 2 months) they persisted I finally said if I did not want basic why would I want extra. A word of advice you might want to make sure your account is paid in full and that your credit card is informed you will no longer accept those charges. Easy for someone who is setting miles away to be derelict in their duties and cause you months of problems.

Take the pass card out of the receiver and send it in a regestered letter to them explaining what you want, that way you have proof of what you did.

Probably won't be a problem. The only problem I have had like that was with Earthlink internet service. It has been almost 1 year and they are still trying to bill me. I have filed a complaint with the state attorney generals office about them. They would also add some undecipherable charges to my account as well for 150.00 or so.

We are going through the same problems with Earthlink. We cancelled, they kept charging, we called them on it and now they say they can't give us a credit on our account becuaes we dont have one. The rep really got pissy when I asked her how she could sleep at night knowing that she was stealing. This isn't over yet, but I will never, ever have Earthlink again.

Had them before and cancelled. No hassles. I have since gone back to them. Don't get all the channels I wanted (RFD TV) but still get better service and pricing than local cable provider could offer.

You should worry! The hassle we get when we cancelled our TV licence in the UK was unreal.
They keep sending reminders, and threats about using the TV we didn't have. Then they come snooping round to see if were were using that non-existant telly. Eventually they go away when they at last realise they are flogging a dead horse, but will be back in a couple of years time. Must have spent more on chasing us than about 3 years worth of licence money. Me, I just wind them up when they come snooping around, just to make things interesting.
Regards, RAB

Do you buy licence per telly or household?

Cancel the dirct payment from the card. All the services want you to talk to this or that dept to cancel and all it is is another person trying to resell you it. Just tell the first person or second your not in for any sales pitches and this will be the last time you talk to them. They will offer you some better deals than what you have been paying but if they gave a discount every now and then a person might continue.

Dish Network is the name. Current inducement in Calif. is free installation and equipment for 4 rooms with required programing. The 3 extra rooms are an additional monthly charge in the small print. Tractor channel is 9409, seems to be only on Saturday now, along with steam and diesel train shows. Lots of horse stuff and farm programs during the week. Extra charge for TV guide magazine, but there is an on-screen guide covering about a two hour period. Find it at www.d..... ....
