Another F20 question

I need some information from you Farmall experts. This '39 F20 I have has a hydraulic pump. I think I read somewhere that the late F20's could have come from the factory with a starter and hydraulics. I used to drive a neighbor's F20 back in the 60's and it had a starter and a hydraulic pump. This summer while at a threshing show I talked to an older gentelman who was displaying his F 20 that he bought new in '39 and he said they did not come from the factory with these options, that they were added later. What is the right answer? Thanks in advance.

I just got home from tracking down the F20 with the starter that I used to drive long ago and the starter is tucked tight under the left frame rail in front of the bell housing. It goes into the bell housing from the front but there was so much junk packed around it that I could only see it from the top. There is a starter relay bolted to the left side of the tractor in a kind of ramshack fashion leading me to think this was not a dealer installed setup. The bellhousing looked factory and the bellhousing casting number was in the proper place though it was not legible. No one was home at the residence at the time I was there so I did not feel like spending too much time looking. Is this the way the dealer installed starter is set up? I remember the former owner, who has since passed away, told me he bought it new in '39. It does have 36 inch rear wheels with 'split rims'.

They were aftermarket parts,Central Tractor and
others sold starter kits, foot brakes, overdrives, gas manifold, big bore sleeve sets, governor kits and other parts to improve F20s. A replacment bell houseing was supplyed,a used
flywheel with gear and a rebuilt Delco starter. The starter fit on carb side under frame

So if this tractor had a starter, would it have a different bell housing? I don't see a starter hole anywhere. It's been at least 30 years since I have seen the one that has the starter and I don't remember where the starter was. I was raised on the two bangers and everyone else in the neighborhood had them too, so I wasn't around any of the 'old' red tractors when they were still in heavy use.

I saw 2 F20s last summer that had a starter that drove off the front pulley. there was a tim shield that may have been covering a chain drive.
