Finishing up some body work on tractor tin and I have a question. I started with bare metal and have used regular body filler (Bondo) and have shaved and sanded that down. Next step is the spot putty for small imperfections, scratches and edge-feathering, etc. Should I put a coat of primer on the bare metal/body filler before using the spot putty? Or should I just used it as things are now (body filler and bare metal)?

That would be a Cletrac General GG you're talking about right? Never heard of that feature, someone must've stuck a 2 speed gear reducer in there between the clutch output shaft and the regular tranny.

Bondo type fillers should go on bare metal. The
spot putty usually can go over primer or on the bare metal. Most spot putty is basically thick
primer so either way is OK.

Use body putty on bare metal.
