Placed ad Monday in YTmag classified page. Aready got four offers to make millions overseas. I wont make the mistake of posting my email ever again. guess the cat is out of the bag now. Need to change adress again. In the future I will include my E-mail in the text only. Will this foil the email harvesting of these predetors?

The easiest way around e-mail harvesters is to include a few X's in it when you post it. Then simply tell people to remove the X's if they want to e-mail you.

For example :

someXXXbody@anywhere.net

You've hit on one of my "pet peeves"- Granted that the internet is a great place to find a seller (or buyer) for what you want (or got), but why oh why do we then have to email each other back and forth, ad naseum, when we could just have an old fashioned conversation on the telephone and get the whole thing wrapped up in minutes, rather than days? If you want to sell me a tractor, put your phone no. in the ad, and we'll just leave the emailing to those trying to enlarge each other's body parts. Or those settling the estate of the late Chancellor Bongo Kabongo by making believe they're sending it to a complete stranger.

For one thing it is hard to send pictures by telephone.

Nope. The best way I found to combat it is to create a temp email address, filter garbage out as it comes in (if needed), and delete it when done or becomes infested. That way if I do make a spam list from an ad, reply, or posting (where I do want an email response), I don't have to notify everyone (who I want to have it) of an address change.

Just fo to any of the free email sites (lycos, for example) and create an account that you only use for selling. When the spam gets too bad, dump it and move on to another.

Free and easy.

Sam- ask your server abt Imail. They put it on my server and all my mail goes there. I get a notice everymorning of whats in the different mail boxes I set up at the start. Nothing get thru to my mail program unless I forward it there. Best of all its free to me --think the server pays a small amount for each user but very little. Just check in read OR forward and delete the whole mess thats left. Good luck.John
