Back from the auction held in Taylorville today. Weather was raw, but no precipitation today. Nice for a while but then the wind came up and became miserable in a hurry. I didn't write down all the prices, but I think it was like most auctions, some high prices, some low, some unheard of for the condition of the unit. A sample: First Farmall M(sharp)-$3500 (average, working M's brought between $900 and $1100) , Nicely painted Oliver S99 with a Detroit diesel(no hydraulics or PTO)-$12,500, JD snowmobile (no engine)-$125, IHC #16 4 bottom plow (can take one bottom off for a three)-$250, MM 2-14 plow with steel rear wheel, rubber on front-$250, JD unstyled B(pulled through the ring)-$2000, White 4-180 (no duals, rough)-$2500. On Fri. cousin bought a JD umbrella bracket for $60 and a JD plow clevis for $40. Today good size brat and coke-$4.00. oleblu

The WR-9 that went for $2000. Did that go real cheap? Or was there something I didn't see when I looked it over?

A the bottom of this message is a link to all of the prices for what sold at the auction.

I am not a Ford man but that nicely restored 901 for 2K seemed like a heck of a deal to me. Anyone know why it went so cheap?

What a great show this was. A parade of 177 tractors, if they all made it thru the ring, and a price set on all of them. I always wonder how many of them didn't get a new home put it is a great sale. I had a 4-180 White at one time and enjoyed seeing this one go thru the ring. Althouh the 99 Oliver was bid at 12500 a red and grey with Massey-Ferguson name and bage went for 15000. Guess that divides the buyers from the lookers. Thanks for a geat day and show, it was a well run show and sale.

Jim, it was downright balmy on Saturday! Friday was about as bad as it could get for wind and cold at Thanksgiving. I think Kurt is talking about moving Thanksgiving! Maybe to July! Had a good time met lotsa folks. BTW, thanks for the calendar. John

Hey Blu, I bought the 4-180, $3K, started to walk away and the guy said it was mine! I wanted it because it had a cab and I wanted to warm up. Actually suprised me, the thing runs great, good oil pressure and the 3 pt, hyd, and unfortunatly only the air cond. fan would work. Suppose if it were 95 in the shade only the heater would work.
Also bought the restored Oliver HG. I stood around waiting for the 70 outside that had an extra engine and full set of steel. I wanted the front steel. When they said they were going to sell the tractor first, then theengine and wheels, the owner jumped in and said NO, it all goes as a package. ????? ???
Sorry I missed finding you. Larry

Larry, sorry I got the price wrong on the 4-180. Still a good buy. Did you buy it to use or restore? I didn't write anything down as I kept moving to keep warm and see what was selling outside as well. Most people I talked to thought it should have been in an enclosed building, but I think the exhaust fumes would have been a problem, along with seating and standing room. All in all, a well put together sale. oleblu
