I am in process of refurbing/repainting, etc. a JD 3020 (Serial #108160R). Have a pretty bad rear PTO shaft leak. Can anyone help me with info on how to change the seal and where i might find one on line? (Not close to a JD dealer.)

Replacing it isn't that hard. Remove the 1/2" nuts and bolts around the outside of the housing, and it will come out as a unit. There should be a snap-ring holding the guide in the bearings. Remove it and tap out the guide. If it's leaking around the guide, and the guide is worn, you'd be well-advised to replace it as well. Parts availablity may be an issue. If you just need the seal, a parts store may be able to cross it for you. The gasket and new guide may need to be purchased from Deere. Deere has online parts service at Deere.com, or you might be able to order from the nearest dealer and have it direct-shipped. They would probably also provide you with copies of the proper service manual pages. Feel free to email me with any more "in-depth" questions. I can walk you through the whole procedure, as I'm a JD tech.

i do believe that an aftermarket sleeve is available from many salvage yards that sell a&i products, and yes you can order it from your JD dealer as well, though may dealers perfer not to have anything to do with a&i products.
but that's a whole other story, that's way to long to get into.
p.s. make sure that you have your sn, since if the person that orders the sleeve for you does not ask for it, you have a 50-50 chance of getting the wrong piece
