I got a red light at the chicken coop once. I was driving a TopKick with a gooseneck trailer. The man came out with a four foot stick and I thought I was in for a good beating. I watched in the mirror as he poked at my safety chains. Not a word was spoken. He went back in and the light turned to green. Ed

Have your drivers license, registration and proof of insurance for truck and trailer ready. Sometimes a dumb look helps and then again not. If your paperwork is in good order they figure you know your stuff. Also if your rig looks good they figure it is. If your rig is rough shape they will be all over you. I know because I service the Az DOT vehicles and watch these guys in action.

Yep, if they are in the mood, they will keep looking until they find something wrong, even though what they find is only in their imagination.

I haul out of Dow Chemical everyday and go over the scales every morn and nite. I've spent as much as 4hrs out back. Keep your rig up and lookin good and act like you know your stuff in regards to what you have on board. Keep your weight in line and placard it properly and you'll be ok. Be sure of yourself and knowledgable of your cargo. I haven't received a ticket yet in 29yrs of doing this. For what its worth????
