i have a 53 super m that i got from a friend. i was ready to try and start it. i opened up the petcock to check the oil level and water comes pouring out. about a gallon of it. i think the engine is stuck. what should i do. the tractor was sitting outside with a crack in the muffler for a year or two.

try putting turpentine in the cylinder and let it sit a day or 2 clean out the pan area with fuel oil or a light oil and refill with good oil and then try the starter with the plugs out it should free it if it is going to with out a tear down I've done this on a lot of engines and so far it has worked better then and thing else I have tryed and a lot faster

Pull all the spark plugs and shoot your favorite oil/solvent (WD40, Marvel Mystery Oil, etc) down the pistons and allow to soak overnight (don't refill the crankcase yet). ATTEMPT to turn over by hand with the crank or jack up one wheel and put in 5th gear and try to use the wheel as leverage to turn over the engine. If your lucky that will break it free (if froze) otherwise repeat until you get disgusted and then start tearing the engine down. When (if) free hook up the starter and let it turn the engine over to blow out your soaking chemical. LEAVE THE PLUGS OUT! Oil and such does not compress like air and you could break or bend a rod or something. Put new plugs in and you might want to drop the oil pan to see what the bottom of the engine looks like before you refill the crankcase with oil. Let us know how it turns out.
