I have a Fordson Super Major. The air/oil bath oozes out some oil when running. I've changed the engine oil and it doesn't seem to be getting water in the engine oil. The oil level in the air/oil bath is correct. What is causing this?

Definately need to check compresion. This is the sign of a leaking or sticking intake valve.

seems i read,at this site, that dirty screens in the oil bath section (the tube above the oil cup) would cause "back drift of oil). the fellow stoped it by taking the screened tube off the tractor and washing it out acouple if times with a solvent.

Gary,

not sure if ill be any help but here we go, I beleive you are refering to the oil bath air filter that inline to the carb. I would say it would be hard for oil to leave the engine throught the carb and load up the oil pan on the filter assy.
I have seen on some oilcups wuth a baffle like or slosh plate the lay in the top. maybe your needs one. I know are Ford has one. But if it does with out you ever moving the tractor. the you can shoot down my theory

good luck

I dont know what brand of filter it actually is and I dont know how it is attached on your tractor. But I had a customer come in with something very similar to your problem on a piece of construction equipment. He had moved his air filter and attached the intake hose to the wrong port on the filter which caused oil to go the wrong way in the filter.

Not sure, I have had the problem on small engines caused by a leaky intake valve. Do a compression test. or maybe timing.
