I have a JD model H with broken fan blades, got a replacement for it and wondering if I have to take hood, radiator out to get at it? The fan i got has the disc in it and my book shows it should fit right on the shaft. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance Arnie

Don't know about the fan blades but if you're going to take the hood off, you start with the steering column, unless you want to cut up the hood where the column goes through. Take the steering wheel off and then the front end bearing plate off the steering gear box in the front and pull the colunn out the front. You may have to wiggle the wheels left or right to let the sector release the worm on the column.
Then more fun begins if you have to take the gas tank out of the hood as they're bolted together. There's clips inside the hood that hold the tank. These tractors weren't meant to be taken apart I think. I haven't taken the radiator out but it looks like the bottom of the core might be a problem as the bottom tank on the radiator seems to be part of the tractor. Good luck. I had the gears in the governor that drive the fan shaft go bad and had to take the fan shaft off at the governor end and that may be an option to get at the blades?

You're partly right, but it's a whole lot easier to remove the fuel tank along with the hood. The rear tank support is attached to the block with 2 bolts. I leave the sediment bowl and the 3-way valve attached to the tank.
The radiator is held by a couple of 5/8 bolts going up through the frame to the bottom tank.
Hope this will help.
