1973 john deere 110 rear end locked in 2nd gear

yep shes stuck in 2nd gear,anyone have any thoughts as to what the cause is? she is due to be here in a few days so i havent had the chance to take it apart yet .its a decent 110 i plan on restoring with plow,snowblower mower etc etc.any help appreciated.specially on parts locating for the rear end.thanx in advance.Lars

Does it work in 2nd gear or is the transmission locked up?

If the first, I don't know what's wrong.

If the second, it's actually engaging two gears at once. If this happened while moving, the odds are REAL good that you'll find broken teeth on a few gears. This is generally caused by a broken detent spring or worn detent pin. Neither part costs much, but they sure do damage when they go.

In any case, the transaxle isn't hard to work on. You can find out more over on the lawn and garden tractor forum.

yep she ate a tooth on each gear on the shifter gears,cause: busted detent spring,fun part now is gettin gears for a good price,been qouted some outragous prices wayyyyy yyyyy yy over what they should be from a cupple places.when i told my jd dealer he said"it figures"....

jd still has parts or techumse/peerless dealer mod 2300 tag on side of trans
