I bought a 1973 ford 2000 3cyl diesil import last weekend and tried to get the bush hog off and can not disconnect the pto from the tractor. I pulled the shaft apart so I could get behind it and work. It is the kind with (I guess) a compression ring that I believe you slide forward and then just pull it off. I have never had this type before and did not want to get too crazy with it. I held it forward and tried to work it back and forth and could see play on the pto shaft, so I know the yoke is not froze up to the pto shaft. Any suggestions!!!!
Also, I posted a pic of the head lights this AM on this import, if you know where I can get new bulbs for them, let me know.

Thanks,
Colby

Try pulling the lock ring toward the rear of the shaft. All the ones I've ever dealt with always went to the rear. If that doesn't help, stick a prybar in the pto shaft so you can get some leverage to pry it off. Good luck.

It would slide about 3/4" twards the tractor so I thought that was correct. It was stuck gouin backwards but it broke loose.
