DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH REPAIRING A BELARUS 250AS.

I THOUGHT THE MOTOR SEIZED BUT IT LOOKS FINE . I REMOVED THE PAN AND ROD CAPS. SOMETHING IN FRONT OR THE GEARING IS JAMMED AND IT WON'T CRANK.

I HAVEN'T REMOVED THE FRONT YET.

Check your air hood, the tunnel that vents the cooling air over the cylinder fins. You will likely find that an air restriction has caused the tractor to get hot. In fact, if the restriction is localized, it won't get the oil hot enough for it to register on the guage. this can happen VERY quickly. chances are you have melted a chunk out of one of your cylinder walls and/or piston, which means you will have to replace a jug, and piston.

I have had customers who didn't check to keep the air hood clean, and a rat had built a nest aganst one of the cylnders..... .....Melted a chunk out of the cylinder wall the size of a quarter.

the piston walls appear ok.
the rear main and rear rod bearings are gone.
i'm trying to get a price for bearings and a crank.

i'm not sure if anything else is wrong. i remember it cranked fine and when i pushed in the decomprssion valve it would immediately stop cranking. this was about an hour befor eit totally died.

ALSO,
BETWEEN WHEN IT DIED, I WAS ABLE TO CRANK IT WITH OUT ANY PROBLEM. WHEN I PUSHED IN THE DECROMPRESSION VALVE IT WOULD IMMEDIATELY STOP THE ENGINE. IT WOULD NOT FIRE AND CRANKED FAST WITH THE VALVE OUT.

IT ALSO PUFFED SOME SMOKE WHEN CRANKING WITH THE DECOMPRESSION VALVE OUT.

Have you removed the starter to make sure its not stuck in.

THIS IS WHAT THE TRACTOR DID.
IT WAS RUNNING FINE. THE SPEED WENT DOWN FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS. PUFFED BLACK SMOKE EVERYWHERE AND DIED. IT WOULD NOT CRANK AGAIN. IT APPEARED LOCKED UP. THEN AFTER ABOUT 45 MINUTES IT STARTED AGAIN. PUFFED SMOKE LIKE CRAZY AND RAN FOR ABOUT 3 MINUTES. DIED AGAIN MAKING VERY BAD NOISES. I REMOVED THE OIL PAN EXPECTING TO FIND SEVERE DAMAGE. EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD. THE STARTER WOULD TURN THE ENGINE ABOUT 2 DEGREES WITH EACH CLICK. NOW IT DOESN'T DO THAT EITHER. NORE CAN I MOVE IT BY HAND. I CAN'T SEE IN FRONT WERE THE GEARS ARE, OIL PUMP, INJECTOR PUMP, ETC. I THINK THE DAMAGE IS SOMEWHERE IN FRONT.

If this is a water cooled tractor it sounds like it got hot and seized, might have melted the rings or something along that line.

i took it apart today. it seized up for no apparent reason.
the rear main and rear connecting rod are melted.

i'm now going to join the list of people who are shocked at the cost of repair parts!!!
