I have a problem with my IMT 539 tractor hydraulics. When I start the tractor the lifting levers move as far up as they can go and it takes 5 min. or so after I shut it down for the levers to fall down to the bottom. Can anyone tell me how to fix this and what causes it? Obviously I can't use any implements because they all go 3 feet in the air as soon as I start the tractor. I would appreciate any wisdom about this problem.

I am also curious if any of you ever put a loader on a 539 sized tractors? Is it to small to adequately operate a bucket?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Sounds like your control valve may be stuck. Remove side plate on right side and see if your levers inside are moving with the outside control.
Make sure you have 90 weight GL1 or 80/90 GL5 fluid in rear end.

I put a loader on a 539 some years ago. Took front pulley to a machine shop and had it drill and taped to fit a front mount hydraulic pump.

Well, I can't help you on your hydraulic problem, sorry, but I can at least tell you that you can put a loader on your 539, alright. It would be a BIG help if it had power steering, and, if you want to handle anything much over 750lbs, you should have some rear end ballast for traction. Allied(likely several others) still makes suitably-sized loaders for your 539, which is, after all, a slightly modernized MF 35.

Have any of you used the Massey 35 manual for working on a IMT 539? Are the details correct enough to get you through the repairs etc? I thought of buying a MF35 manual but didn't want to spend the money unless I was sure would help me and be in english and non metric conversions were not required. I guess I am a spoiled ole Texan that dislikes having to convert just to work on the tractor. Any other info. on 539's would be appreciated by you that might have stories to share. Please feel free to send them to me if you have the time and inclination. All are appreciated.
