ages ago when i was crawlin on all fours my dad had our my neighbour do some logging on the ranch, the neighbour did eco logging using horses and an articulating 30hp tractor, it was green and had a 3pth. There are still a few skid trails visible today, very steep, no modern mfwd tractor could get up and down them. This tractor has always been on my mind, And Ive always thought that would be a handy machine, put a blade or log loader on the front and a winch/blade on the back, good low impact selective logging machine. Plus I could realy use a tractor like this for the farm hobby farm service bizz i wann get started.

My question is, who did and does make a tractor like this. Is this an impossible dream to find one??? any thoughts suggestions, links to web sites , thanxs

Four wheel drive articulated compact tractors with diesel power were made by several co's in Itialy goldoni, ferrari, lombergini and pasquali to name a few pasquali was probably the one sold the most in the US and our neighbor to the north they ranged from aone cylinder 18 hp to a three cylinder 42 hp any way I do sell and buy used pasquali tractors you can email me at neoasquali@yahoo.com or call me at 603-526-8656 im sure i can answer any questions and they did make a green one which was 38 hp Jack Speake

You might look at www.cadplans.com. The offer plans for an articulated tractor and links to a company that pre-cuts and kits up teh necessary parts. Don't know the size, but it is probably more like 15hp or so. Kind of neat with hydraulic drives to the wheels. Also say an articulated tractor with an aircooled diesel engine at the Brooks annual steamup last summer. They were made in Italy about 30 years ago. Were about 25-30 hp.

Deere put thier name on an Italian Goldoni brand with a Saran engine from France. 8 or 16 speed trans with creeper gears. Top speed is/was 19mph. Three articulated models, the 18-PS 921, 29-PS 933 & 34-PS U238. Info from page 208 of vol II of JD Tractors & Equipment by Don Macmillian & Roy Harrington.

Small articulated tractors are still being made today. Here's a few that I've found in my travels:

Goldoni (www.goldoni.com)
Antonio Carrara (www.antoniocarrara.it)
Wisconsin Engineering (www.wisconsineng.com)

looks like im not the only one interested in these smaller articulating farm tractors, maybe we should start a petition, sending to deere, NH, Case. Telling them to build a tractor like this, I think there would be a market for them,

Thanxs for the info, gonna check out the website, try and e-mail for more info, price list and the closest dealer,

I'll just sit back and see who else ad's there two cents worth, maybe soem one know's where an older holder might be forsale?

Thanks

Holder: I saw one of these machines at a forestry exhibit. Very expensive,I dont remember the exact price, but I think it was more than a John Deere 440 skidder. This was 15 years ago. The dealer who had them told me a couple of years later, the only ones he ever sold were to the government and that was only 2 or 3 machines.

Hi, Bernhard, thanks for the link. One of those C 870 HF units would do just fine on my psuedo "ranch" [lordy I hate that designation]! Sure would be nice for bale handling, summer and winter. And the timber part would benifit too. Could you, maybe, have Santa delilver one? Have TRIED to be good, honest.....have a gooder, R.E.L.

Hi Grove

I can try to ask the german Santa to send You one,
but I believe it is to big for his bag, when he enters Your chimney. Is a delivery-contract enough?:)

Sounds like a Holder. They were made in Europe, Germany I think, and were imported as a small logging machine. They had a 3 pt hitch, and were available with a woods cage and loader. I still have a sales brochure somewhere, but don't ask me to find it.

Pasquali also made 4wd articulating tractors, but as I remember, they were much smaller.

Landini and one of the Italian exotic car builders, Ferrari I think, built them. I think Landini still does. Orchard machines for the rugged slopes. I remember a friend that raced sports cars telling me that the Italian gearboxes were so tough because they were built by tractor mechanics!

A machinery dealer here had one about a month ago, might still have it. It was a Ferrari, they say its 25 hp diesel. Looks like a big acticulated 4X4 just smaller.
