I spent the day driving my tractor on the WMT Tractorcade today. We went from Oelwein, Ia. through Backbone State Park and through the Volga river vallley. It was a beautiful ride. I am on a 1948 MM UTS. Tomorrow we go from Elkader, Ia. to West Union, Ia. It really is a great 470 tractor - tractor show. We will be in West Union Tuesday Night and back to Oelwein Wednesday noon. Stop and see us if you can.

The ride went very well. Everyone rode on the shoulder when there was traffic, and we got many thumbs up (no other fingers up that I saw).

For my part, my wife and I probably left a combined $30 at various food stands / vendors. I know - what are we thinking? We aren't all even farmers.

Re. an earlier post about the Homestead, Ia MM show - I would like to meet any of you that can be there. I will be standing proudly near a 1948 MM UTS, a MM AF 3-16 plow and an MM Gvi.

Gary

Mr. Houser:

Our afternoon pit stop yesterday was in Volga City. Very nice little town along the Volga river and very nice people. Today is Elkader to Gunder to Clermont to West union. It's hot. Wish I had an umbrella!

Gary, we're going on a 2 day ride from Sigourney to the Amanas and back on Thursday and Friday. Will there be anybody there by Friday morning or is that a Saturday and Sunday show? Maybe I'll see you there before we pull out. Look for a TO-20 Ferguson. I've got a couple of AC's and I like those Mini Mo's too. Irv

Irv:

I'll watch for you. I am not sure what time I will get over there. What time do you think you will be through Amana? Will you be going through Homestead?

If you don't have an umbrella, I have just one word of advice - SUNSCREEN!

Hope to see you Friday.

By the way, It's supposed to be 89 Friday and I don't have an umbrella either! Whew!! I'll probably look like a crisy critter by the time we get back. I'd sure agree about the country up that way, mighty pretty. I've got a picture of a church in Elkader setting up against a tall hill full of fall leaf colors that I took many, many years ago. Absolutely beautiful. Still remember it.

Glad you enjoyed Clayton County. I grew up in Volga City. I like the view heading out of Volga to the East towards Elkader. It is a beautiful view of the Volga River valley.

KOEL (AM950) Oelwein IA is advertising for their tractor drive. Sorry, don't know the dates or the route.
