W speed Patrol head light bulb hard to find

So A year or so ago one of the head light bulbs on my W speed patrol burned out. I pull it out yesterday so I could take it to town with me today and get a new one. It is a 1173 bulb. Stopped at O'Reilly's and they have been looking for one. Only one of there stores had one and that one is not 100% sure they have one and if they do it is the only one. Guess I might have to order a few so I have them on hand. $10 each which seems a tad bit high but at least if I have them I can run it late at night

Yes it has been converted t o12 volts but so have all but one tractor that I have. Much easier to have them all 12 volt and cheaper in the long run

I googled it and nothing came up, maybe it's been replaced with something more common. If it's 12 volt I would put a new LED on it, it would outlast you and then some!

Rich, Jerry Coulter mentioned hem thought the original was a 6 volt 1133 bulb. My research of an 1133 shows some are substituting an 1143 which is supposedly a 12 volt version of the same 12 candle power bulb. (from IHC cub site). if so Mcmaster Carr has 10 package for $13.50. I'm sure others have that bulb available. Leroy

Shouldn't it just be the same light as the WD had when new? Can't imagine it'd be too hard to find.

If the base is the same, then all the aftermarket people sell a 12v bulb that fits. I'm not up on bulbs, so maybe the one you have is "special".

Hey old. I have posted several times about changing my garden tractors over to LED Bulbs. The ones on Ebay are the projector type so they are very impressive and Very bright. Look up this number and they are only $20.oo. make sure you get the Samsung ones as they are the brightest. # 173213403575.

(quoted from post at 17:20:43 06/29/18) 1156 is no where near the light of the 1143 bulb and I am wanting to be able to see to be able to grade

Well gee, 1156 is 2.1 amps, 1143 is 1.98 amps.
I would imagine your navy trained eyes can see the difference.

The 1156 is a lot smaller then the 1143 so what light they put out is a lot less. Amp etc. in many cases do not matter it is the way the bulb is made

Here ya go old. These are the photos i posted awhile back. Same as the eBay number i gave you. Fist picture is a 1156 and the second is a LED replacement. THAT big of a difference.

Old, 100% agree. position of filament in reflector changes light output and pattern of same. On one pre sealed beam antique car the hi and low filaments were the same, other than position of filament in reflector. (1939 Chev)

The 1156 is for the park lights and turn signals on a car. The candle power is not even close to the original 1133.

1156 will have 402 lumens out initially.

1156 will have 402 lumens out initially., designed to have more than 160 lumens long term

a halogen "high performance" version of the 1143 will have 180 lumens long term.

So other than filament placement, a non halogen 1143 will probably NOT be as bright as an 1156. Either bulb may be upgraded to halogen or led for better performance in most cases.
