Am in the market to purchase early next year, a welder/generator; probably about like the Miller BobCat, ( arc welder/ 8000 watt generator ) which has an 18 HP engine. Seems like a waste, since I have a NH 1630 compact diesel tractor. Would like to avoid gasoline storage, separate engine maintenance, etc. Does anyone know of a PTO, 3-pt hitch, welder/generator??
Thanks

Do you happen to have a regular plug in welder?

I have a PTO generator and use my 220 welder with it.

Look at the ZENA welders -- they have pto drive models, hydraulic drive models, &
models which install/attach directly to tractor
engine.

: Thanks, I haven't bought yet. What brand and output of generator do you have? How much does one cost? Do you plug in something like a Lincoln 225 240V AC welder? I am interested in going this route if the generator is readily available and not too expensive. Thanks.

Yes, that's the kind of welder that will work.

Does your tractor have a 540 RPM PTO?

Our power company sells them about at cost.

A kilowatt of generator needs about a horsepower.

I think mine is a 25 kilowatt.

New they sell for about $1,500, used on sales about half that.

It really does the standby generator good to use

ocassionally to make sure it works.

It always seems like a guy is trying to get it going in the dark and cold.

Thanks,
I will check with our local electric co-op to see if they have literature. My tractor has a standard 3-point and a 540 PTO. If you knew the brand name/model, I might be able to find their internet home page.

Here is a link to Winco's home page. These show up at farm auctions on occasion and usually sell for a lot less than new price.
