How much are the rate running for loaded mile, unloaded mile, and or roundtrip? How much do you get for hauling? Would like to buy a few tractors out of state, and need a rough figure to budget on. I'm figuring at a $1 a mile roundtrip. High, low, average? Imput welcome. Thanks

I get 1.25 per mile for LTL less than half the trailer. Then up from there like 2 tractors would be 1.50 per mile for the partial. If you want exclusive use or full load then 2.00 per mile for legal dimensions. Then up from there for OD work If over weight then it will depend on the weight and dimensions. Keep in mind LTL has a 7-10 day time frame for the item from pick up to delivery. This is for a million liability and half million cargo in insurance. Fuel is .60-.70 per mile and ins. is .10 per mile cost.

Dollar a mile was in another century- even for a backhaul. Bought a combine a few years ago, northern IA, glad to pay the dealer about $2.50/mile one way. He charged more for local trips, but when he found out the distance was several hundred miles, he was glad to haul it for that, was there by early afternoon. Local hauler stopped to pick it up, found it to be too high for his trailer (he should have known that, since I gave him dimensions and weight of the machine).

If you can find someone that is in the area of your tractor looking to get a back haul to where you live you may get it for $1.00 a mile but you better figure on $2.00 a loaded mile because the time restraints and finding the right person in the right place at the right time is hard to do.

I also think $1 a mile is low. With the cost of fuel nowadays I would expect near $2 or more per mile.

I had a G JD figured for a guy. 1200 miles one way. The trucker has a load coming this way and would take it back the 1200 miles for $950. I thought that was a good deal.

I've been tossing this thought around for a while, before fuel went up I was $1/mile. When fuel etc went up the price started going too. Some of the local businesses are charging by the hour, port to port, adverage of $65/hr (depending on size of truck) After pondering on it, it doesn't sound like a bad idea.
