O.T. oil capacity Ford Triton V10 Engine

Just got a 1999 Ford F350 4X4 with an Triton V10 would like to know how many quarts of oil it will take when I do an oil change ? also any recomedations on oil ? and what weight? and also filters ? Thanks Dave F.

that v-10 will take 6qt of 5w20, that's what ford recommends. i don't agree with that. if you do any pulling at all run 5w30. you should use the motorcraft oil though as it is a synthetic blend.

Think it is 6qt with filter. If you dont have an owners manual. Tell ya what. Go to the ford dealer, ask him for proper specs and to show appreciation, give him the 4 bucks for an OEM filter. I would say any 10/30 oil of good quality would be fine.

Probably the owners manual would be the place to look for all of this.
I use Mobil 1 in everything, their 5w40 is about the best oil there is for a reasonable price.
Wix are supposed to be good filters, have heard nothing but bad about Fram but I've used 'em and never really had any engine problems attributable to oil.
