Can anyone provide any info on a 266XP? A guy has one for sale, but I can't find any specs online and he doesn't know or have the book for it. What hp, cc and that good stuff is it? Any pros cons? What's XP stand for?

Yay or Nay??

Thanks!

My 266 XP works like a charm since:

- adjustment of spark plug gap (.5 mm)
- adjustment of flywheel/coil gap (.3 mm)

For starting up, (right-handed), I put my left foot in the handle and my right foot carefully on top of the machine, (the top/lid with the bump is sturdy and can take it). In this position you can grab the starter-cord with both hands, which gives also plenty of momentum to start, if you, like me, are not of the the standard lumber-jack build.

Thanks for the info folks. And thanks for the link Joe. Sounds like it should be a decent saw.

Nathan;
Good saw,I use a 262xp and have had the best of luck with it. The XP stands for "closed port" head design. Provides quicker throttle response but makes the saw a bit louder and dirtier emmissions wise. That is why Husky offers so few XP models in their current line up. Good luck with the saw. Roy

Back in the early '80's I was cutting wood and using 162 Husky's. (62 cc). When I bought a new saw one spring my Husky dealer asked if he could put a prototype engine in it for testing. When the test was over they sent that motor to the company and would put a new one in my saw if I wanted one. It was the 266 (66 cc) motor and I loved it. Power to weight was perfect for what we were cutting. I used it profesionaly for a year or two before changing profesions but twenty years later I still have and use that saw. Good luck. Dan.

Nathan, looking at the specs for the 266xp, it definitely is not a high rpm saw. I guess I don't know what XP means either, anyone know? I have a 346xp that runs 15.5K and the norm for the newer huskies seems to be 12-13K. Joe

266 had a 4.1 CI or close to a 70CC engine. About 5 HP.

XP models have a higher quailty rotating mass. Piston, rings, crank etc. This allows them to rev higher and make more power from a smaller engine displacement.

Joe I to have a 346XP and people cant beleive that it will out cut a 55 Rancher or the 350.

Love them Huskys.
