Hey, can somebody help me identify this tractor, the brand, make, type and year build. I need a manual or some exploded views for this tractor. I'm currently working on the engine.

It kinda looks like a homelite, Alliss made, but I'm not sure, so I call in the help of experts over here!

Link

This is what I do know:

The engine is a B&S 326400-135 16 Hp!
The decals say Montgomery Ward 16 all over it!

anything else I don't, here's some pictures!

thanks a lot,

Richard

My Montgomery 16 HP was a Gilson tractor and had hydrostatic drive. Heckuva unit but I had to trade it for a motorcycle.

Um....the drivers side cowling (near your left knee) had a tag with numbers I think.

I"ve got some info. on it I could send for a buck or two..... .

That's a Gilson-built Montgomery Ward Squire 16; I've got one that's hydrostatic drive (GIL 33160c S/N 47X96136) and one that's gear drive with three speeds. The data plate --which is an aluminium plate that is tabbed through the parallel horizontal holes above your right foot as you sit on the tractor-- is missing on mine, too. I haven't been able to find a manual in several years of looking. I think that Gilson was bought by Agrifab some years ago. The two that I have were built in the seventies and still run. The gear drive model will bury a 10" plow in very rocky soil. I've used the hydrostatic tractor to pull my 2-ton dumptruck across the pasture... They're as heavily built as a Cub Cadet; I wouldn't take for mine.
