Im parting out an AEH. I came to the shroud and it looks like I need to take off the flywheel first. It has a rope starter in front of the flywheel and I dont know how to take that off either. Im new to these engine(sort of) and I dont know the tricks of the trade yet. Can someone tell me the process of taking off the rope starter and the flywheel to get the shroud off. Thanks Ace.

The rope pulley screws on, with a normal right-hand thread. If you look behind the slot for the rope you will see the flats to put a wrench on. I think it takes 1-1/8", I use a 15" adjustable. You will need to stop the crank shaft from turning (not hard if the motor is stuck!). The flywheel itself is mounted on a taper. You are supposed to pull on it with one hand while striking the crankshft "smartly" with a babbit hammer to pop it off. I use a copper hammer sice I don't have a babbit one. Then you can take off the shroud. E-mail me off-line, I may be interested in a part.
